Bell Heather (Erica cinerea) grows very happily in a damp-ish sandy clay with creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia). A combination you would never see in the wild because the Erica likes dry heathland and the Lysimachia grows in marshland. But that does not matter, because this is a garden situation and we are not trying to re-create authentic wild habitats (whatever they might be - is there a 'wild habitat' in Britain?)
