
Part of the mini 'hay meadow' that I created in our London back garden (3).
This is shows the mini-meadow just before cutting at the end of July; the Knapweed has almost finished flowering. Knapweed strains like this one that have come originally from ancient meadows tend to have evolved through selection pressure to flower early, before the traditional hay cut. Wild Knapweed that does not come from meadow situations tends to have a later flowering period.
